Double-Hung Windows
WHAT ARE DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS?
Double-hung, also known as sash and double-sash windows, are the most popular option in Wisconsin and most U.S homes. They are made up of two pieces—or sashes—that slide up and down, and they are set vertically on top of each other so they make a rectangle, meeting in the middle with a locking mechanism.
WHY CHOOSE DOUBLE-HUNG WINDOWS?
These windows open from both the bottom and top, while staying flush with the wall, providing great ventilation when you are needing a gentle breeze on a gorgeous Wisconsin day, like when Lake Michigan sends cool breezes across Milwaukee during a warming summer, also known as “the lake effect“.
Cleaning is also a breeze with Pella’s double-hung windows. The ability to slide both sashes up and down gives you maximum access to both . And Pella’s double-hung windows even tilt inward to make it easier to clean the exterior of the glass. Remember to clean top to bottom, outside to inside.

VENTILATION
Because they are made up of two pieces, they create good airflow options while creating a simple, easy-to-maintain window for your home. This also makes them a more affordable option. The ability to open the top piece as well as the bottom piece makes them excellent for those trying to keep pets or children inside, while creating airflow with the top sash. Additionally, Pella’s double-hung windows have options for Pella’s Rolscreens, blinds-in-widow, child safety screens and night latches.

PELLA WISCONSIN REVIEWS
Hear about how we’ve helped tens of thousands in Wisconsin.
“Jake came out and gave us a consultation, explained the different options we had for windows. Our home has been around since the late 1800s and we definitely needed new windows! The crew showed up on time, and killed it! They were very professional, courteous of our home, clean and just did a great job! We went for a modern black fiberglass window with a big grid… and I am in LOVE!”

“Fantastic experience working with Pella, we’re so happy with how our windows turned out! I worked with Matt from the start and it was an easy process (not the cheesy strung-out sales pitches like most companies) with good communication. We got all new good work and changed some window designs, which was a big project for the size of our windows. The crew who installed them did an impeccable job and were very fast.”
BECCA M.
“Tim did a fantastic job. He was very honest and knowledgeable and asked what we wanted and what our goals were for the windows and the house. No upselling and he was not pushy at all. I felt like we got a great quality product at a great price. I also feel really good about their install process which a lot of other companies do not talk about. We definitely will be calling Tim when we need more windows at this house or the next.”
