Pella Windows and Doors of Wisconsin Blog

Category: In The News

We all know that the weather in Northeastern Wisconsin can be a little unpredictable. One day the sun might be shining, and the next day it might be raining. And in the winter months, we could go from sun, to rain, to snow in a 24-hour period.

Because the weather is so unpredictable in Wisconsin, Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin partnered with WFRV/CBS Local 5 to sponsor its new Storm Team 5 Sky View Network.

Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin General Manager Gina Della.

“This is something that we’re extremely excited about being able to do,” General Manager Gina Della from Pella Windows & Doors says. “It allows us to spread awareness about our company and at the same time, help people stay on top of what’s going on with the weather when they follow Local 5.”

The system is now live, check it out online here: Sky View Network.

State of the Art Technology

The Storm Team 5 Sky View Network System powered By Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin features state-of-the art technology with five different high definition cameras installed at different locations throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

Those locations include Manitowoc, Sturgeon Bay, Oshkosh, Appleton, and Green Bay.

Each camera has the ability to give almost an entire 360-degree view from ground level to high up in the sky, and has an optical zoom up to 20x with full 30 fps (frames per second) in HD. It also has enhanced day and night video quality for broadcast and online.

Since the cameras are so technologically advanced, they are also very versatile. Not only can WFRV’s meteorologists easily track the weather during newscasts, but they can also showcase area buildings and skylines, focus on natural attractions, and report on any breaking news on events near the camera locations.

“This is a very high-end camera system that allows us to advance the way that we track the weather and even report the news across this large geographic area of northeastern Wisconsin,” WFRV/CBS Local 5 VP/General Manager Mike Smith says. “It’s the best of its kind in the area!”

All Access, All the Time

The most unique feature about the Storm Team 5 Sky View Network System powered by Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin is the fact that people can access the views of the five cameras at any given time by visiting WFRV’s website.

Viewers don’t have to always be tuned into the news to see what’s going on with the weather through the system.

WFRV/CBS Local 5 VP/General Manager Mike Smith.

“This system is very flexible for anyone interested in the weather,” Smith explains. “Especially if there’s bad weather. All you have to do is open up your web browser on your tablet or smartphone, look us up, and you can see what’s going on. It’s great.”

In addition to being available on WFRV’s website, the weather camera system will also be used at various times on social media like Facebook Live when there might be a storm to track.

“We love how we can connect with our customers on Facebook and other social media channels,” Della explains. “ Plus, we can help them keep track of the weather like Mike said.”

WFRV Local 5 is a CBS-affiliated television station that is owned by Nexstar Media Group. Located on East Mason Street in Green Bay, WI, the station has been in operation since 1955. When asked about the sponsorship, the team from WFRV was also excited.

“This is a partnership that we’re tremendously excited about,” Mike Smith said. “Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin is an industry leader who really stepped up to work with us to bring real value to the people of northeastern Wisconsin. It just made sense to work together, and we couldn’t be happier about it.”

We didn’t think it was possible, but 2017 was one of the best years yet at Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin!

There were a record breaking sales across our business segments, community events and causes that we were proud to be a part of, and breathtaking projects that we had the privilege to work on.

In short, 2017 was awesome, which is why we want to take a moment to reminisce about the year and also showcase how you, our customers and partners, helped make it such a successful one.

Expansion Was The Name Of The Game

One of our goals at Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin is to serve our customers to the best of our ability and that’s why we expanded our staff quite a bit in 2017.

We hired new sales representatives for our trade, retail, and commercial business segments; added project coordinators, experienced managers and administrative staff; expanded the operations team; and created new positions to better support and develop our team members.

The expansion doesn’t end there either since we’re currently looking for additional members to join our team. If you’re interested, make your way to our careers page to find out how to apply.

Giving Back To The Community Was Important

Just like in 2016, we made it a point to support local charities and organizations.

Whether we raised money for the cause or participated in events like walks, runs, or bowling, everyone at our company did their part in answering the call to give back. Some of the local charities, organizations, and events we supported included:

There Were So Many Amazing Projects

We had the pleasure to be a part of so many stunning retail, commercial, and trade window and door projects in 2017.

On the retail side of our business, we helped thousands of customers revamp the look of their homes through the installation of replacement windows, entryway doors, patio doors, and the combination of any of these.

One of our favorite retail projects took place in Hubertus, WI where the homeowner completey updated their over 20-year-old home. Here are before and after photo:

On the commercial side of our business, we were involved in multiple projects throughout Wisconsin, ranging from multi-use buildings to apartments, assisted living homes, schools, hotels, college residential dorms, restaurants, and many others.

Some of our favorites included The 102 on BroadwayUW-Fond du Lac Student Housing, and the Stone House Development, Inc. shown here:

Then finally on the trade side of our business, we worked with several builders in Wisconsin and Michigan on both new construction builds and replacement jobs.

Our trade sales reps work side by side with the builder, homeowner, and designer during the planning stages of a home to ensure that the right window is being selected to match the goals of the home’s design. Plus, our trade sales reps assist the builders with anything else they may need, including answering installation questions, solving any problems or concerns that may arise, and just being available whenever a builder may need them.

A few of our favorite trade projects were the Mark Winters Home Malibu Ranch, the Modern Farmhouse, the Dream Home in Howard, WI, the House on the Rock, and Mini-Lambeau Field.  They are all shown here:

End Of Year Project Contest Winner

In addition to the above projects that were some of our favorites, we also had a Pella 2017 Year in Review Project Contest where you, our readers, submitted their entries for a chance to win a gift card and a signed mini helmet.

We want to thank everyone who submitted your entries and we’re happy to say that the winner of the contest was DuWayne Hameister from Hameister Architects, Inc. who submitted the below photo of a remodeled Fawn Lake Home:

Awards Were Earned

The Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin’s team’s hard work and dedication throughout 2017 led to multiple company and individual awards.

One of those awards was being nominated as a 2017 Finalist for the Best of the Bay Reader’s Choice Awards. This contest was run by the Green Bay Press-Gazette and we were honored to receive this nomination. We also were recognized by the Brown County Home Builders Association for our 40 years of commitment to the association.

Employees at Pella Windows & Doors who won individual awards included 2017 Pella President Award Winners Bryan Lampereur (Trade Sales Rep), Mike Goessl (Trade Sales Rep), Ross Sobacki (Retail Sales Rep), Sean Parrish (Commercial Sales Rep), and John Ryun (Architect Consultant). Commercial Sales Rep (Kellen Anderson) was selected as the 2017 Commercial Sales Rep Rookie of the year.

We Had Fun

The term work hard, play hard applies to the crew at Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin. The culture of our company is all about taking our jobs very seriously, yet at the same time, we have plenty of fun doing it.

On top of that, we had some good times at different company events. Like, when we got together to play kickball after hours or how we tailgated at our Football Tailgate yard before each football home game in Green Bay, WI. There were also plenty of food days and potlucks, jean days to support our favorite sports teams, and our annual white elephant gift exchange during the Christmas holiday.
